Holocaust and Genocide Studies (House Bill 318)

Database Search Tips

UDLib/SEARCH Databases can be used to find additional articles concerning the Holocaust and genocide.  The following tips will help you refine your searches as you explore the databases listed below.
 

  • When conducting keyword searches, first identify the words that are the central focus of your research.  They will become your search terms.
     
  • Enter your search terms on the advanced search screen to allow for maximum control of your search. 
     
  • Put quotation marks around words that you want to keep adjacent to one another. Example: "the final solution" 
     
  • Combine your search terms with the connecting words "AND," "OR," and "NOT." 
     
  • Type the word OR between synonymous or interchangeable words that are acceptable in your search results. Put terms connected by OR in parentheses if you enter them in the same search box. Example: (perpetrators or collaborators or bystanders) and Holocaust
     
  • Use the advanced search screen if you would like to limit the results to articles pulished within a certain date range.
